Our 13 Big Goals for 2025: Financial Growth, Adventures, and Self-Improvement
It’s that time again—time to reset, rethink, and make some goals for the year ahead! This year, we’re diving into 2025 with what we’ve dubbed the “Smiley List,” a mix of big dreams, helpful habits, exciting adventures, and yes, a healthy dose of ambition. Thirteen items made the cut, and while some are practical, others are just plain fun.
Before we jump into the nitty-gritty, here’s a look at everything we’re aiming to accomplish this year. If you’re curious about how all these goals tie together or just want to see our faces explaining them, Check us out on Youtube.
Now, grab a coffee or tea, settle in, and let’s break down what we’re working on this year—and maybe inspire you to chase some ambitious goals of your own!

Prioritizing Financial Literacy

Learning More About Money (Finally)
It’s a hard pill to swallow, but even though we’re making more money than ever, we still feel like we don’t really know what we’re doing when it comes to managing all of it.
Sure, we’ve picked up a bit of knowledge about stocks and investing here and there, but let’s get real—we’ve barely scratched the surface. Talking about “compound interest” every now and then doesn’t mean we’re experts.
This year, we’re prioritizing financial literacy as a couple. We’re committed to learning everything from smarter budgeting strategies to better investment techniques.
Why? Because it’s time to stop winging it and start making our money work for us. Plus, with one of our other goals (spoiler: it involves $100,000), we’ll need to level up fast.
Passing It Down
It’s not just about us. We want to pass down everything we learn to our daughter. She’s already got the idea—a chunk of whatever she earns gets invested, no exceptions. Honestly, we’re kind of jealous.
Imagine having someone teach you investment strategies at 14. We’re over here thinking, “Why didn’t anyone do this for us?” Lesson learned!
Strengthening Our Partnership

Daily Meditation Together
We’ve got this amazing space in our backyard—it’s quiet, calming, and basically begging us to meditate. And yet, how many mornings have we actually used it for meditation? Almost none. Why? Because one of us (ahem, not naming names) likes to sleep in.
But not this year. 2025 is the year we make meditation a daily habit. Morning rituals, just the two of us, focusing on clearing our minds and starting fresh. It’s good for us as individuals, but even better for us as a team.
Adventures on the Road

A Road Trip to See Aunt Natalie
We live just shy of the Mexican border, and Aunt Natalie’s all the way in Kentucky. Flying? Sure, that’d be faster. But a road trip? That’s where the fun’s at.
We’re planning to make stops in some key spots, including St. Louis (because one of us won’t stop raving about it) and Cleveland (which has been…a topic of debate).
What’s the point of a road trip, you ask? Memories. We want to make this journey something special—not just a destination, but a full experience.
Butterfly Migration Goals

The butterflies of Michoacán, Mexico are calling, and we’re answering. It’s a little out of our comfort zone, but how often do you get to see millions of monarch butterflies up close? Nature has some real showstoppers, and this is one of them.
The plan? Soak it all in, explore a spot in Mexico we’ve never been to, and learn a bit more about their culture while we’re there. Sadie’s not always a fan of trying new places, but she’s willing to step out of her travel bubble for this one.
Seeing Basketball Dreams on the Court

Basketball holds a special place in our hearts (even if my WNBA dreams didn’t exactly pan out.) This year, we’re committing to catching a WNBA game. Nothing beats the energy of live sports, and this one’s all about reconnecting with a shared passion.
Mixing Up Our Experiences

Expanding Our Concert Horizons
This one’s simple: we want to broaden our musical horizons. We’ll still go to Five Finger Death Punch concerts (you can’t argue with tradition), but we’re also going to give other genres a shot. That means no tattoos required and maybe (just maybe) a country concert or two. Kevin calls it “music diversity,” so let’s run with that.
Pottery and Painting Together
Let’s craft something—literally. Kevin’s been campaigning to try a pottery or painting class, and we’re on board. We’ve done painting before and loved it, but pottery? That’s uncharted territory. It’s the perfect chance to get creative together, and honestly, we’re both excited to see who has more “skills” (spoiler: it’s probably neither of us).
Creative and Professional Growth

Writing and Publishing 10 Books
Ten books in one year. Is it a little absurd? Absolutely. But we’ve jumped into this goal headfirst. We have already managed to write and edit one together—turns out we make a great team. This time, we’re upping the ante. The writing? That’s her department. The editing? That’s his.
We’re not just doing this for fun. These books play into our long-term financial goals, and honestly, it feels incredible to create something that can live on its own. Whether it’s fiction or non-fiction, we’re diving in.
100 Blog Posts and YouTube Videos

Consistency is king!! We know this first hand. So, we’re dedicating ourselves to creating at least 100 pieces of content this year.
Blog posts, YouTube videos, you name it. Two a week, every week (okay, maybe one some weeks—we’re human). It’s all about building a library of value, sharing our journey, and connecting with you, our community.
Getting Professional Photos
We’re running several businesses yet somehow don’t have a single professional headshot of the two of us together. It’s time to fix that. Finding a photographer in Yuma has been a challenge, so we’re planning to get this done on one of our California trips.
Investing in Our Future

Buying Land in Mexico
Mexico is a second home for us, and buying land there has been on our radar for years. This year, we’re making it happen—lawyers, contracts, and all the legal red tape included. The process can feel overwhelming, but we’re patient. The right piece of land will come at the right time.
Building $100K Outside Our Main Business

This. Is. The. Big. One. We’ve set ourselves up for a wild ride: $100,000 in new income streams outside of what we already do. It’s ambitious (maybe even a little nuts), but we’re confident. Investments, extra payments on the house and car, and padding our savings—those are the only places this money can go.
We’re also sharing the whole process in our 100K Club for anyone wanting to join the madness. Failure, wins, and everything in between—it’s all on the table.
Wrapping It All Together

Every goal on this list is about leveling up—individually, as a couple, and as a family. Some are practical; others are purely for the experience. Either way, we’re ready to tackle all 13 with excitement, effort, and probably a lot of coffee and tea.
Speaking of you (yes, you reading this)—we’d love to hear about your version of a “Smiley List.” What’s on it? What’s one big goal for 2025 that gets you pumped but slightly scared? Share it in the comments or jump into our “100K Club” to set big goals with us.
Here’s to an incredible year of growth, memories, and exciting adventures. Let’s keep smiling and getting after it!
